Services

Perhaps the most unique feature of CCA is that it is very responsive to the needs of cancer patients and their families. The process for determining eligibility for CCA services is simple, requires a minimum amount of documentation and is completed quickly so that patients do not have an extended period waiting for services to be approved.

Community Cancer Association provides financial assistance in three areas:

  • The purchase of medications that fight or treat the patient’s cancer. This includes paying co-pays, deductibles, or in the case of uninsured patients, the full cost of the medication.
  • The purchase of medical supplies, equipment and products necessitated by the patient’s cancer. This would include such things as supplies for ostomy or wound care, nutritional supplements, wigs, bras, breast prosthesis’, etc.
  • Assistance with travel expenses for consultation or treatment.

CCA directly pays pharmacies and home health equipment providers for the costs of drugs, supplies and equipment needed by the patient. Patients are given cash to cover the approved costs entailed in traveling for required medical treatment

In addition patients are provided information on other resources available and advice on how to access these services.

The services of Community Cancer Association are unique in the McLennan County area and to Texas as a whole. There are few, if any, other organizations whose sole purpose is to offer financial assistance to cancer patients who cannot afford to pay for their disease-related expenses.
