About

Community Cancer Association

Community Cancer Association is a designated 501(c)3 non-profit having been granted that status by the IRS in 1959. The organization has been continuously operating in that capacity for over 50 years.

Community Cancer Association has had a strong relationship with Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center since the early 1980’s. Hillcrest has generously provided extensive support to CCA, including providing office space and administrative assistance. This has helped CCA to use most of it’s budget for direct patient aid.

The United Way of Waco-McLennan County provides a major source of funding for CCA. Hillcrest and the Susan G. Komen Foundation are also key funders. Other local foundations and organizations along with individual and corporate donors account for the balance of the agency’s income.

Organizational Structure

Community Cancer Association is governed by an independent, 21 member board of directors all of whom serve without remuneration. Directors serve three year terms with a limit of two consecutive terms.

Accounting services are performed by an outside accounting firm.

A separate accounting firm performs an annual independent audit.
